After completing her degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Utrecht Kelly moved to Australia for a number of years. In Sydney she had her first experience of patents at the biotechnology company Cephalon, formerly Arana Therapeutics. Here she played a coordinating role in drafting patent applications in the field of antibodies and in the management of the intellectual property portfolio. Her particular focus here was prior art search in relation to freedom to operate and patentability in the context of potential new projects, licences and joint ventures.

Education:
Kelly studied Biomedical Sciences at the University of Utrecht between 2001 and 2006.

As part of her later position as IP Assistant at Cephalon Australia she followed a number of courses in Master in Intellectual Property at the University of Technology in Sydney in 2010.
