Ophtec and the Netherlands Patent Office release film on patent protection

Intro: Our client Ophtec BV worked with Octrooicentrum Nederland to show why protecting innovation is indispensable for a medical technology company.

Since 1983, Ophtec BV has developed and manufactured intraocular lenses in Groningen, the Netherlands — artificial lenses implanted during cataract and refractive surgery, among other procedures. The company supplies ophthalmologists and hospitals worldwide.

Products like these are the result of years of research and development. Protecting that investment, and keeping room to innovate further, calls for a well-considered patent strategy. Following a visit by Octrooicentrum Nederland, the Netherlands Patent Office, a film was made on the subject.
