Gerwald has eight years of experience working in industrial R&D environments prior to starting his career at Arnold & Siedsma in 2004. This background enables him to incorporate the commercial and economic relevance of an invention or procedure into his practical advice.
He has been managing the Leeuwarden office for 20 years and advises both national and international clients on technical and legal patent matters in areas such as mechanics, process control, control engineering, water treatment and aviation. He also has substantial experience in infringement and opposition proceedings, often with favourable outcomes.
Gerwald currently spends significant time in China to streamline the collaboration between Arnold & Siedsma and Rouse, ensuring that clients worldwide receive the trusted level of quality they expect. He is also jointly responsible for the A&S China Desk.
