Michiel has an excellent reputation in the field of trademark and patent cases. He has conducted major national and international patent proceedings and has been involved as a lawyer in well-known trademark law cases.
Michiel’s work mainly involves proceedings in the field of intellectual property law, which includes international patent and trademark proceedings. In addition to his litigation work, Michiel gives advice on intellectual property matters and is involved in the drafting of contracts.

Thanks to his work for various reputable car manufacturers, including Porsche and Ferrari, Michiel has exceptional experience and expertise in the automotive industry.

Michiel is an active member of the INTA anti-counterfeit team and the MARQUES regulatory team. He is the Benelux correspondent for The Trademark Reporter and one of the founders of boek9.nl.

Employment history:
Michiel began his career in the legal department of the reputable Arnold & Siedsma office, which has traditionally specialised in patent law in particular. He then worked for five years with Van der Steenhoven Advocaten as an IP lawyer, before setting up his own office with three colleagues at the end of 2007. In 2010, this office merged with Arnold & Siedsma, to which he returned as a partner.

Outside activities and memberships:
Michiel is the co-founder and editor of www.boek9.nl. He is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the Licensing Executive Society (LES), the Benelux Vereniging voor Merken en Modellenrecht (BMM) [Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Law] and the Vereniging voor Auteursrecht (VvA) [Copyright Association]. He is currently an active member of the regulatory team of the Association of European Trademark Owners (MARQUES) and the anti-counterfeit committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA). He also lectures and publishes on a regular basis.

In the editions of the World Intellectual Property Review Michiel Rijsdijk and his colleague Marlies Wiegerinck provide an overview of the kinds of protection of Intellectual Property in the Netherlands.
