EP, BE patent attorney, Associate partner

Sara is an experienced European and Belgian patent attorney with a strong scientific background and a focus on clients in the Life Sciences sector, including those active at the intersection of AI and Life Sciences. Due to the highly innovative nature of Flemish knowledge institutions and the spin-offs that result from them, Sara focuses primarily on these clients.
Before joining Arnold & Siedsma, Sara was a PhD student working on a project focused on the genetic manipulation of proteins involved in Alzheimer’s disease, with the aim of identifying a new treatment for Alzheimer’s. She then worked for a smaller patent firm for about 10 years, where she completed her training as a patent attorney.
Sara is highly skilled in the broader aspects of IP management, closely assisting her clients and taking care of everything for them, such as due diligence assignments for investments, assisting in the drafting of IP clauses in contracts, but also the day-to-day management of larger IP portfolios and coordinating these with her clients’ ongoing projects.
