Profile

Mitchell studied chemistry at Radboud University, specialising in green chemistry. During his masters, he carried out research at a pharmaceutical company in the Netherlands and a department in Italy on preserving common reactions using flow chemistry. He then completed a PhD at Radboud University and TNO aimed at determining the environmental footprint of new technologies. The dual position enabled him to form a link between theoretical concepts and practical application. He examined various technologies, ranging from renewable energy to sustainable solutions for waste streams such as plastics and carbon dioxide. For this, he worked closely with technology experts to translate their substantive knowledge about the innovation into the expected environmental footprint. During his PhD, he discovered a passion for getting to the bottom of innovations and thinking along in innovation processes from his own expertise. As a trainee patent attorney, he can give new expression to this passion by combining it with his passion for language.
