Profile

Rogier is a Dutch and European patent attorney. He is a civil engineer and obtained his PhD in Applied Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He bases his client services on the extensive experience he has gained in both the business world and academia. Until recently, Rogier taught at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in the field of materials. For twenty years, he combined this with various management positions in R&D at chemical company DSM, where he also trained as a patent attorney. Before joining Arnold & Siedsma as a partner, Rogier worked as a patent attorney in private practice at both a Belgian and a Dutch patent firm.

Rogier knows the business world from the inside and is well able to think from different angles and client needs. As an in-house patent attorney, he gained extensive experience in defending granted patents in opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office, as well as in strategic aspects of intellectual property. As an independent attorney, he knows how to achieve concrete results for his clients by listening carefully, acting quickly and appropriately, and contributing ideas from a broad technical and conceptual knowledge base.

Rogier has been recognized as a “Recommended Individual in Prosecution” by IAM Patent.
